Curriculum & Modules
The curriculum gives an overview over the master's course and describes the required lectures, lab courses, seminars etc.
During the master's, students come into contact with up-to-date research and widens considerably their knowledge and spectrum of methods. Students specialize in two areas of physics and other disciplines outside of physics. An important element is the master's thesis in combination with two introductory projects where the student is directed towards the frontier of current research in his or her area of specialization.
Flexible Master Program
One can enroll for the master's program both in summer (term begins in April) and winter (term starts in October). Practical courses, elective area, primary and secondary area of specialization and the thesis in combination with the introductory projects can be scheduled flexibly. The lectures advanced quantum mechanics and advanced statistical physics are, however, only offered in the winter term. Please check the descriptions of the modules to see which lectures are offered in winter and summer. More information and further help can be obtained from the module coordinators.
Curriculum (examination regulations as of October 2015)
With the start of the winter term 2015/16, new examination regulations have come into effect. This leads to some minor changes in the curriculum compared to the previous version - the most notably being a shift of credit points from the elective area to the secondary area of specialization.
